Animals are such agreeable friends-
they ask no questions,
they pass no criticisms.

Currently my dogs are siblings Lucy and Lily, lab mixes. My mother and I share 4 dogs, all rescue animals. My daughter has 2 cats, both strays. It's quite a menagerie around here.
There is always one animal that's has a special place in your heart and, for me, that is Lucy. Lucy came home a cute 12 pound puppy and now she is an affectionate, intelligent 70 pound dog and the love of my life.
If we have a repairman come into the house, all of the other dogs stay in the bedroom, but Lucy stays right with me and the repairman. As long as I am there and calm, Lucy is my calm protector.
When Lucy and Lily were puppies, we kept buying dog toys and, no matter how tough the toy was supposed to be, Lucy could shred it or unstuff it in a matter of minutes. And then we bought them some stuffed animals from Goodwill. We were careful to avoid stuffed animals with the little styrofoam pills.
And the stuffed animals solved the problem. Lucy and Lily now had "babies" to carry around and love. Occasionally Lucy will instigate a game of "tug of war" but mostly they used them for pillows.
I bought a really big stuffed dog, Filbert (pictured with cat) , as an experiment and Filbert became Lucy's baby. When I saw another very large white fluffy dog in Goodwill, it came home and became Fluffy.
The only problem with these big stuffed animals is that Lucy grabs them right in the middle and wreaks havoc as this becomes quite a wide load.
Of course, cats are not respectors of dogs' toy and they really appreciate a nice, squishy pillow for a "cat nap" as DandyLion demonstrates here.
I will keep my postings about dogs to a minimum but they are such a big part of my life, I have to post about them occasionally.
I hope you enjoyed this visit. Please visit often. Comments and questions are always welcome. Lael
